Set in the mid-22nd century on Pandora, a planet inhabited by the Na'vi, a species of tall, blue-skinned humanoids, Avatar follows the story of Jake Sully, a paraplegic marine who becomes an avatar driver for the RDA Corporation. These genetically engineered Na'vi bodies, called "avatars," are used by humans to interact with the native population, with the ultimate goal of relocating the Na'vi to make way for a massive mining operation. As Jake becomes immersed in the Na'vi culture and forms a deep bond with Neytiri, a Na'vi warrior, he begins to question his mission and ultimately sides with the natives in their fight against human exploitation.
