Many generic DVRs use a system clock to validate passwords. Removing the internal battery can sometimes "confuse" the system into a default state. Unplug the power and open the DVR case.

Note: For Euronet units with firmware version V4.0 or higher, this method is blocked unless the DVR is in "inactive" state (factory new).
