By trying to fit the entire saga of two generations into a standard feature film runtime (roughly 105 minutes), the narrative feels breathless. The first half (Heathcliff and Catherine Senior) is so explosive and passionate that the second half (the children) often feels like an afterthought or a cooling-off period.
